| Daniel Richter was born in 1962 in Eutin, Germany, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg, from 1991-95. In recent years, through a number of significant museum and gallery exhibitions, Richter has cemented his position as one of the leading artists of his generation, both in Europe and the USA. He works with a figurative painting in which the figures, often painted using an intense colour palette, possess an ethereal, ghostly quality. His works typically draw their inspiration from current events in particular geographical flashpoints. Daniel Richter has exhibited and is represented in a long list of museums around the world, including K21 in Dusseldorf, Hamburg Kunsthalle, Denver Art Museum, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and MoMA, New York. |
