Helmut Federle | ||||
| ||||
| Helmut Federle (born 1944) is one of the most considerable living abstract painters in Europe. With his closely reasoned style, Federle places himself in a modernistic tradition, which counts artists such as Barnett Newmann and Mark Rothko. Federle focuses on simple compositions with a minimum of form and colour structures and with a very limited palette. Many younger artists have been inspired by the almost intimate expression, which Federle’s restrictive painting method causes. Federle’s work has been shown at several solo exhibitions, such as Kunstmuseum Bonn (1995); IVAM, Valenvia (1998) and Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (2003). His works can be seen at some of the most important collections such as Tate Modern, London; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris and Kunsthaus Zürich in Switzerland. In Denmark Federle is represented at Louisiana – Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk. |
